Update on Shak III
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the Shak III effort so far! In March, the construction team applied for the necessary permits, and the building project is definitely moving ahead—very close to being on schedule. The fundraising effort is nearly complete—there's just about $350,000 left to get a shiny new Shak. Now that we're so close, every little bit counts! So if you haven't given yet, please consider doing so; if you have recently come into some unexpected cash, think about sending it our way; and if you made a pledge that you haven't yet paid, now's the time!
If we don't bring in the final $350,000, cost-saving measures will be taken to reduce the scope of the project down to the amount we have raised. While still fabulous, a reduced-scope Shak might not include such important features as acoustic treatments for practice rooms, storage areas for drumz, toobz and The Tree, and second floor bathrooms. Please help the project remain at its original grandeur and donate today! Feel free to contact a friendly Alumni Board member if you would like additional information on the Shak III project or campaign.
The Shak III Fund
Note: In case you didn't get our solicitation letter in December—or if you didn't get enough of it the first time—check out our appeal for Shak III funds mailed to nearly 3,000 Band alums. A huge thanks to Julie Stanford for donating her time and expertise to design it—check out Sliced Bread Design if you want her to do your project too (but unlike us, you'll have to pay her). Also, if you want to make sure you receive future SBAB mailings, make sure your address is updated with Stanford University and ask them to tag your file as a Band alum.
If you're an LSJUMB Old Fart™, you've probably heard about the efforts of the LSJUMB and the Stanford Band Alumni Board to raise funds for a new rehearsal facility, which will be located at the current site of the DeGuerre courts. In an effort to provide you with more information, here are some of the pertinent documents surrounding the nature of this effort:
- LSJUMB Facility Proposal - 1.6 MB
- DeGuerre Facility Plans (simplified) - 64 kB
- DeGuerre Facility Plans (as of 8/31/2004) - 208 kB
